Brazos River Recreation Master Plan - Update
Fort Bend Green recently completed the Brazos River Recreation Master Plan. This plan is the result of partners working together for over two years. In the summer of 2011, Fort Bend Green hosted a gathering of representatives from local governments and organizations interested in working collaboratively to develop a Recreation Plan for the Brazos River. On behalf of this group of entities, Fort Bend Green requested the assistance of the National Park Service through its Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program (RTCA). In the fall of 2011, RTCA formally accepted the request and began working with the new group of partners to develop a process that would culminate in this plan – the Brazos River Recreation Master Plan.
The projects proposed here are intended to be the first steps toward the long-term development of an extensive river recreation corridor that draws visitors and appreciation from near and far. There were 16 projects proposed with 4 recommended corridor initiatives. The final plan is also available for download below.
